Farm Manager – Storm Lake, IA
Stalcup Ag Service provides professional farm management, real estate, appraisal, and consulting services to landowner clients with farmland in western Iowa and parts of South Dakota, Nebraska, and Minnesota.
We are seeking a full-time Farm Manager based in Storm Lake, Iowa. This position offers a benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and IRA match. Farm managers can earn the opportunity to become a company partner including stock ownership, based on performance and years of service.
Farm Manager Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop a working knowledge of assigned farms, including operations, tenants, and long-term goals
- Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective clients and farm operators
- Develop and implement annual farm plans and budgets
- Evaluate and oversee farm improvement projects
- Conduct field visits, crop inspections, and operational assessments
- Coordinate the purchase of farm inputs, including seed, fertilizer, and crop protection products
- Gain proficiency in farm management areas such as lease structures, grain marketing, soil types, land valuation, USDA programs, crop insurance, and drainage systems
- Utilize our company accounting systems to process and code income and expenses and generate financial reports
- Collaborate with all team members, including managers, appraisers, and administrative staff
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Farm Manager Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, or a related field
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Farm experience preferred, with leadership experience a plus
- Ability to obtain a real estate license within the first year of employment
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a variety of situations; actively listens and seeks clarification when needed
- High level of integrity and commitment to ethical decision-making, including handling confidential information
